Beach South of Oistins

There is a small beach here, and some attractive leaning coconut trees. However, this is not an idyllic beach by any means, as it is marred by a concrete block wall running up one end, and the ruins of some structure or other, in addition to the ever present garbage that Barbadians love to leave lying about.

View of Enterprise Coast

Near Oistins, it is once again possible to approach the shore. There is a pleasant spot to sit, where once stood a house looking out to sea. All that remains are some steps that lead to no-where. A pleasant enough place to sit, and admire the view across to the Enterprise Coast and South Point.

Further on, about another 10 minutes walk, there is an access road that leads down to a small cove, with picturesque verandas along the rocks that catch the sea breeze. Once again, it is necessary to return back to the main road to continue the walk. The road meanders away from the coast for a while after this point.

Between St Lawrence and Oistins

Along the Maxwell Coast Road, about 5 minutes east of Dover beach, you pass a public park. It looks like a site that used to have a building on it - and on closer inspection, it did, and was never quite cleared away. If you wander down though the Casuarina Trees, through the detritus of past picnics and abandoned bottles and tin cans, you will find an old concrete seat facing out to sea. The view is pleasant enough, and there is a small beach, strewn with building rubble. There is no path along the coast from here, and to continue the walk, you need to return to the Maxwell Coast Road.

North of St Lawrence

This walk begins at St Lawrence Gap, along the main South highway.
The walk takes you along the road that runs along the Maxwell Coast. The road does not always allow access to the coast, and to get to the beach, much zig zagging up roads and back down roads leading to and from beaches is needed. This is not really the best part of the island to walk.
